August 2008 Tour News The Daniel Smith Blues Band will be touring extensively in the UK from autumn 2008 into spring 2009, with Cheshire, Scotland, Warwicks, Derbys, Notts, Staffs and Oxon already on the agenda. 

2009 itself will see the band's 10th year since its 1999 debut (at The Station Tavern, London) and will also see Daniel's 15th year as a performer on the UK blues circuit.
May2007 Tour News T-Bone Taylor joins Daniel north of the border for a 9 day Scottish tour in May.
May 2007 Internet News Daniel launches his MySpace webpage - go to
www.myspace.com/danielsmithbluesband - and is in the process of recording a live boogie piano video for it.
May 2007 Tuition Daniel is recording a brand new series of audio jazz, blues and boogie woogie piano lessons on CD ROM, all 90 minutes, cramming a large amount of great information and tips, clearly
presented, and available in different levels.

Daniel will be recording a brand new CD

July 2006 - August 2006 Scotland Tour Daniel plans another Scottish tour, this time with the full band, again including the Edinburgh International Jazz and Blues Festival as well as other gigs.
April 2006 CD News Daniel plans to re-release his debut CD, Southside Boogie due to popular demand and to tour it summer 2006.
November 2005 - March 2006 Band News The Daniel Smith Blues Band resume touring on the Arts Council's rural arts touring programme covering Warwickshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Worcestershire and Derbyshire among others.

October 2005

Tour

The band are touring with Dave Specter from Chicago, USA, the respected guitarist with a four-album portfolio with Delmark Records on a whistlestop one-week UK tour. Daniel has already been invited to Chicago to play with Dave Specter in the USA

July/August 2005 -

Scotland

Daniel will tour his native Scotland (well, he's actually Anglo-Scottish-Dutch-Indonesian) in the summer, including the Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival.

Festivals

May looks like being a hectic festival month with bookings at The Bute Jazz Festival (Scotland) t.b.c., The Isle Of Man Blues Festival (solo) and The Hessen Blues Und Kulturfest, Germany.

Band

The Daniel Smith Blues Band will feature Damon Sawyer (drums) and George Pearson (bass, acoustic guitar and vocals) for a series of gigs throughout this period, promoting the brand new acoustic CD, Sitting On Top Of The World, recorded with George and Damon.

July 2004

CD News

Daniel will start recording a new CD this month with George Pearson and Damon Sawyer at Damon's South Hill Park studio in Bracknell. It's acoustic blues and boogie woogie, along with a hotch potch of other new original material. Release date: Christmas 2004.

September 2003

CD News

Daniel Smith is about to start recording a new album. The 'Chicken and Egg' CD will be available from April 2004.

It will feature the full band, plus special guests, Alan Barnes (BBC TV Award Winner) on sax and Roger Cotton (Peter Green Splinter Group) on Hammond organ.

BBC Radio 2's Paul Jones Show

The Daniel Smith Blues Band will be the featured band on BBC
Radio 2's Paul Jones show on Thursday 21st June. You'll be able to hear the three tracks that have been recorded especially for the show. Tune in between 8:00 - 9:00pm

March 2001

Daniel to feature on BBC Radio 2

Daniel Smith is recording in March for the Paul Jones Radio 2 show.   He will be the featured artist in a subsequent show, with 3 tracks due to be broadcast.   The show will go out this summer.

British Blues Connection Annual Awards

Daniel Smith has been nominated Best UK Blues Keyboardist 2001.   In addition, band members Dino Coccia, Alan Glen, George Pearson, and Jon Taylor have all received nominations for Best UK Drummer, Harmonica Player, Bassist, and Album respectively.

Daniel Smith Blues Band members Alan Glen and Dino Coccia have their own CD available, linking up with Sonny Black's Bob Haddrell on keyboards for a great jazz-singed, Mose Allison-style album of cool blues.  It is titled: The Barcodes "Keep Your Distance".
